Outdoor Nature Camp!
What We Do
- We start and end each day in Teacher Lu’s yard that is nestled in a wooded area within the Sligo Creek watershed.
- We learn about different creatures that are native to the area through stories, hands-on activities, nature walks, and games!
- Kids have lots of time to explore and develop their fine and gross motor skills in the: sandbox/mud kitchen area, monkey bars, climbing net, hammock, sensory swing, trampoline, climbing dome, and more!
- Weekly activities include: exploring Sligo Creek, playing with ice treasures/water on hot days, baking a simple snack to share, taking nature walks and rides in our “Bus Bike” to observe native plants and animals, planting seeds and/or sampling herbs from our small garden, making nature art, and visiting nearby playgrounds!

For full-day camp enrollment, a 25 percent discount is available. For early pick-up enrollment, no sibling discount is available at this time.
If there is special gear that is needed on a given day, Teacher Lu will email families. In general, dressing kids in bathing suits when it’s hot is helpful so they do not have to change until after water play. Also, on a rainy day, wearing rain gear is a must because we will play outside for much of the day. On days with extreme weather, we will spend some time indoors, but the majority will still be spent in nature. We will go inside in case of thunder/lightning or poor air quality.
We have three simple rules at camp: stay together, no hurts, and have fun. We talk about and model what each of those means, and we work to look out for each other and make amends when hurts happen (because they do!). Teacher Lu is an experienced outdoor educator, non-violent communication facilitator, and CPR + first aid user. They are comfortable handling any conflict that arises whether physical or emotional. Please refer to the general FAQ for non-bullying and inclusion policies.
